Another dimorphic species and one of my favourite canaries.                       
The cock has a black head with a white face mask. The face mask is also visible on the hen (cock left)                       
The cock also has a more reddish tone to the back and wings (cock left)




The Damara is considered by some to be a subspecies of the Black headed Canary, given the name "King Blackhead" I will point out the difference between the two                       
The Damara is basically a exact copy of the Blackhead as far as colour and pattern goes (Damara left)                       
The difference being the addition of the black mask on the Damara (Damara left)                       
Lastly the Damara also show richer colour to the back and wings (Damara left)




On the hens the difference is less but visible none the less                       
The Damara hen still show the white mask lacking in the Black head hen (Damara left)
